You will lead the management and development of all training and group activities, working closely with trained facilitators and supporting parents to grow and thrive.

Duties

  • Modelling behaviours and techniques for high standards of facilitation and group work.
  • Working collaboratively with the team to share and develop new ideas.
  • Supporting individual team members with training plans and performance management.
  • Conducting welfare reviews and offering appropriate support.
  • To oversee the design and production of training/course/group work materials.
  • The role holder will have overall responsibility for the development of our courses and workshops.
  • Utilising existing material but most significantly the role holder will be working with project facilitators and parent groups to develop new tailored content.
  • Research and creative design to develop meaningful, inclusive training with associated materials and handbooks.
  • To liaise with partners to share best practices and stay informed about new initiatives.
  • Delivery & Evaluation of group work.
  • To manage the delivery of agreed outcomes for all group work delivered by staff, volunteers and partners
  • To oversee the preparation and delivery of assessment work, lesson plans, project development, including training materials and prepare and maintain evidence for Internal Moderating e.g. sampling, tutor summary reports and evaluations.
  • To train and support parents to deliver and evaluate one off presentations to various stakeholders e.g. at events, or funding meetings.
  • Deliver training programmes including Communication skills and facilitate group-based learning that respond to the needs of individuals, with the aim for some group to be peer led.
  • Deliver community research projects on topics identified by parents and the community, produce comprehensive reports on findings and organise opportunities to present their finding to the broader community.
  • Set up and clearing up events/workshops etc. as and when necessary.

Essential criteria

  • A teaching degree. 
  • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training.
  • Level 4 equivalent in another relevant adult learning tutor training course.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience of providing support, development, and line management.
  • Experience of teaching accredited courses to adult learners.
  • Experience of designing and facilitating impactful training courses or workshops for adult learners.
  • A track record of working with adult learners of mixed abilities in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and positively with parents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • The ability to work flexibly and creatively within a small team. Happy to go the extra mile and ‘muck in’ when required.
  • The ability to develop and evaluate meaningful, targeted courses and projects.
  • Excellent planning and administrations skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding both children and vulnerable adults.
  • The ability to be able to enthuse and motivate vulnerable parents.
  • Knowledge of the barriers parents in Islington face.
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and awareness of this in group work.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience within the voluntary sector or within community development, multi- agency work - especially outreach and the development of peer led learning.
  • Experience managing measurable outputs and writing reports.
  • Experience of working with parents.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to use a wide range of computer packages.

Additional information

28 hours per week, term time only (working one week in the school holidays)

£37,000 per year full time equivalent In this role.
