Nordic Star Nurseries is seeking a dedicated and passionate Room Leader to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your career, leading a team to provide outstanding care and education in a nurturing environment.

We are seeking an experienced Room Leader to provide high-quality care and learning experiences for children in our nursery. This role involves leading and supporting the team, ensuring they deliver outstanding care while fostering a positive and engaging environment. The Room Leader will set a strong example through clear communication, professional conduct, and effective team leadership.

This full-time position requires at least one year of experience as a senior practitioner in an early years setting, demonstrating strong leadership skills, a commitment to staff development, and dedication to the nursery’s mission and values. You also have at least one year of experience working with children under 2 years old.

Duties

  • Lead and support your team to deliver high-quality care and education, following our bespoke curriculum.
  • Plan and assess activities that support children's development and interests.
  • Ensure a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety, and hygiene in the room.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to staff, encouraging professional development.
  • Oversee record-keeping, including children’s progress and development reports.

Essential criteria

  • At least one year of experience working with children under 2 years old.
  • At least one year of experience as a senior practitioner or in a leadership role within an early years setting.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years Education (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Passion for play-based learning and child-led education.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and early years regulations.
  • A valid DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • High level of proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Desirable criteria

  • Valid Paediatric First Aid.
  • Valid DSL training.
