Employment Type: Part Time, Temporary, October to December, approx. 18 hrs p/w

We are looking for a keen individual to join our friendly engagement team, working in the field in North London. The role is temporary for three months but is a great opportunity to develop a relationship with the Field Force team and be involved in future work around the Greater London area.

Established in 1991, SMSR Ltd. is a dynamic and innovative social research agency with over 30 years’ dedicated consultation and evaluation experience. Conducting both public interest and social policy research for over 200 organisations, SMSR has operating divisions that design and deliver research projects on behalf of the public sector across the UK, Europe, and the Far East.

Duties

The candidate will work within a small team under the supervision of a field-force manager to hold conversations with residents across Islington on the doorstep to promote food waste recycling in the borough and arrange delivery of any equipment required by the household. The candidate will record any challenges residents face when recycling food waste, recording data electronically during engagements.

Full training and equipment will be provided, role involves primarily working in a team, outside during daylight hours with safeguarding protocols in place. Refreshments and facilities will be provided by council hubs.

Essential criteria

• Experience engaging or assisting members of the public
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels
• Organised, motivational, pro-active and able to embrace change/adopt a ‘can do’ attitude
• Excellent team player with ability to work collaboratively
• Confident using tablet computers to record information
• Ability to speak more than one language preferable (not essential)
• Flexible and able to work predominantly in the borough of Islington
• Basic level of physical fitness
• Familiarity with the geography of Islington Borough preferred
• Understanding of food waste processes in the borough (not essential)
