Description

Kickstart Scheme is part of the Chancellor’s plan for jobs. The scheme offers young people, who are at risk of long-term unemployment, the opportunity to take part in a work placement where they will develop new skills to enable them to move into sustained employment at the end of the programme. 

This job placement will provide an insight into working within a young independent hospitality business. The role will include a variety of responsibilities both front and back of house, starting from the ground up and progressing as skills are learnt.

Please note that we are also closed every Monday/Tuesday so those will always be your days off. Our week is from Wed-Sun and you will be expected to work weekends. 

Shift Patterns will vary but will generally be a daytime of evening shift, 6-8 hours depending on the day.

Duties

Duties:

Front of house aspects will largely revolve around

  • Customer service;
  • Communication and organisation skills, running services.
  • General hospitality skills such as barista training,
  • Bar and cocktail skills along with a good grasp of wine knowledge.
  • Some training on the financial side of the business, how to calculate GP and make money from sales.

Back of house side of the role will revolve around

  • Cooking skills and organising yourself in the kitchen environment.

We focus on areas which the employee enjoys the most as this will be most beneficial in developing a role they enjoy in the workplace

Must enjoy being around people and working as part of a team.

Additionally, you must:

  • Have been referred by your Job Centre Plus Work Coach.
  • Be aged 16-24 years old and in receipt of Universal Credit.
  • Be able to work for 25 hours per week.

Training during the employment will include the following:

  • Introduction to barista training Introduction to till systems and POS software
  • Wine and cocktail training
  • Hospitality administrative training/Organisation skills
  • Introduction to professional cooking/Menu knowledge
  • Customer service skills

Depending on the candidate and their abilities this can also be developed and advanced to suit their needs.
