Summary Daret Healthcare is seeking dedicated and compassionate Hoarding Specialists to provide tailored support to individuals experiencing hoarding disorder. This role involves practical decluttering assistance, emotional support, and structured intervention strategies to improve service users’ living environments while maintaining their dignity and well-being.

Duties

Practical Support & Decluttering:

  • Assist service users in sorting, organising, and safely disposing of belongings.
  • Work at the service user’s pace, respecting their emotional attachment to possessions.
  • Arrange for the safe disposal or recycling of unwanted items, coordinating with waste management services.

Emotional & Therapeutic Support:

  • Apply Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and gradual desensitisation to support behavioural change.
  • Provide encouragement, reassurance, and practical coping strategies for managing anxiety and emotional distress.

Collaboration & Multi-Agency Working:

  • Work closely with social workers, mental health professionals, housing officers, and family members to ensure a holistic and sustainable approach.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain high standards of service user care.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and progress.
  • Produce reports for Daret healthcare and local authorities via our allocated care app ensuring compliance with data protection policies.
  • Help service users establish and achieve realistic, manageable goals.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews and adjust interventions as needed.

Essential criteria

  • Experience in social care, mental health, housing support, or hoarding intervention (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of hoarding disorder, mental health challenges, and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to manage emotionally sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of CBT techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and strength-based approaches.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
